PRENATAL & POSTNATAL YOGA TRAINING


If you are a:
*Yoga Teacher planning to teach Prenatal Yoga Classes
*Yoga Teacher who has prenatal participants attending your regular yoga class.
*Health Professional working with pregnant women.
*A pregnant Yogini - to empower yourself to make your own best choices for yourself and baby in developing your yoga practice.
*A Yogini who would like to have this knowledge for your own personal interest and development.


The "Basic Prenatal Asanas" & "Teaching Prenatal Asanas" training will give you valuable education, knowledge, practice and confidence for a safe and beneficial Prenatal Yoga Practice.  Please see below for a description of each module.
Note to Yoga Teachers:  These courses are continuing education in teaching yoga.  In order to be certified to teach prenatal yoga also requires completion of a basic yoga teacher certification course.


There are 4 Prenatal Training Workshops available in total:
*Basic Prenatal Asanas
*Teaching Prenatal Asanas
*Prenatal / Postnatal Body, Mind and Spirit with Focus on Anatomy
*Prenatal / Postnatal Body, Mind and Spirit with Focus on Philosophy
(Modules do not have to be taken in specific order)

Course descriptions:

Module 1:  Basic Prenatal Asanas
Date:  February 22-23, 2014
Fee:  $325 (includes gst)
Instructor:  Kathleen Podiluk, E-RYT, RPYT, RYS, RPYS, International Yoga Alliance
Description of Training: Students will receive a Prenatal Pose Manual, with training and practice of 30 basic prenatal asanas, as well as study of the benefits, contraindications, modifications and variations for prenatal yogis. Individuals who would like to attend this training to deepen their own personal knowledge and practice are welcome.

Module 2:  Teaching Prenatal Asanas
Next date:  March 22-23, 2014
Fee:  $325 (includes gst) 
Instructor:  Kathleen Podiluk, E-RYT, RPYT, RYS, RPYS - International Yoga Alliance
Description of Training:  Continuing to build from the Basic Prenatal Asanas module, this will be training and practice specific to prenatal yoga classes: cueing, sequencing, transitions, pranayama, mantras, various teaching styles and practice teaching.  We will learn methods to design, develop and teach beneficial and adaptive, safe prenatal yoga classes.  Basic prenatal yoga anatomy and philosophy.   CEC's - Yoga Alliance

On completion of both Basic Prenatal Asanas and Teaching Prenatal Asanas
Certified Yoga Teachers will receive a certificate of 40 Hours Prenatal Yoga Training

Module 3:  Prenatal / Postnatal Body, Mind and Spirit - Focus on Philosophy
Date:  May 3-4, 2014
Fee:  $325 (includes gst)
Instructor:  Chelsea Dignean, RYT, RPYT, Birth Method Educator, Doula

Module 4:  Prenatal and Postnatal Body, Mind and Spirit - focus on Anatomy
Date:  May 31 - June 1, 2014
Fee:  $325 (includes gst)
Instructor:  Chelsea Dignean, RYT, RPYT, Birth Method Educator, Doula

On completion of all 4 Prenatal Workshops, Yoga Teachers receive
a Certificate of 85 Hours Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training. 
If you are a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 you will qualify to register as an RPYT

Kathleen is a Registered Yoga Teacher Trainer, 200 Hour E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher), RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher), and Owner/Director of Namaskar Yoga, Registered Yoga School with the International Yoga Alliance (http://yogalliance.org/). Kathleen works at continuing education and on-going training in the varied aspects of yoga, anatomy, philosophy, health and well being, and various forms of yoga training and certification with Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Schools including teaching Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. She is also Certified as a Fitness Instructor and Strength Trainer trained through the YMCA, YWCA, and SPRA, and is a regular speaker and presenter at Yoga and Fitness Conferences. Kathleen has been awarded the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in Athletics. She has over 30 years of experience in the field of fitness and wellness, with over 6,000 documented hours of experience teaching yoga, and has been providing yoga teacher training and certification for Yoga Teachers to register with the International Yoga Alliance since 2009. Kathleen teaches with great care, integrity and respect.
